The rent is too damn high. Alexis has deep experience in land use policy that is needed to thoughtfully plan for a more affordable and sustainable community. Removing barriers to and creating incentives for small and beautiful homes that meet the needs of people in all stages of life. 

Economic Prosperity

Corvallis is at crossroads: without significant action, Corvallis risks losing ground that could take generations to recover. We must build upon our strengths as the home of a top-tier university. The City should continue efforts to build upon its relationship with OSU and foster high-paying jobs in computer engineering, robotics, agricultural processing and cross laminated timber. We need to prioritize infrastructure investments and incentives that attract the types of businesses our community wants. 

Safe Streets

Streets and roads are the bones of our community. When we support safe options for getting around town, people can save money and lower their environmental impact. I believe in thoughtful planning to allow for easier trips for everyone including people who drive, bike, walk, roll, or take the bus. Good sidewalks, protected bike lanes, and frequent bus service will reduce traffic and improve the transportation system for all users. 

Sustainability and Resiliency 

The Earth is our one home. We need to live in a way that enhances the quality of life for generations to come. For the city government, that means we need to continue electrifying as many city functions as possible. It means thinking about how to make city facilities more energy efficient . We also need to think about how to adapt to climate change through planning for more tree canopy, wildfire, and  more extreme weather events. We also have to better prepare for "The Big One" and build facilities that will serve our community after catastrophic disasters like an earthquake or wildfire.
